Recently, important approaches have been made in Prof. Jingcheng Hao’s group at Shandong University on surfactant solution and interfacial assembly, structural transition of phases, as well as behaviors and properties of aggregates.

Surfactant is not only an important component in colloid and interface chemistry, but also one of the basis and frontier areas in physical chemistry. In recent years, financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Prof. Hao’s group and collaborators have systematically carried out studies on surfactant solution and interfacial assembly, structural transition of phases, as well as behaviors and properties of aggregates. Important approaches have been made as follows. In non-salt cationic / anionic surfactant solutions, a novel vesicle structure with closely-packed multilayers was observed, in consistence with the calculation of curvature energy, exhibiting unique rheological properties (J. Phys. Chem. B 2011, 115, 9070-9076; Soft Matter 2008, 4, 1639-1644; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2005, 44, 4018-4021). Controlled assemblies of ordered hierarchical porous films at air/water interface were proposed (Chem. Eur. J. 2011, 17 (2), 655-660 and 2011, 17 (27), 7484-7684; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2007, 46, 3342-3345). These works have been paid attention by researchers in the field of colloid and interface sciences. Review papers have been invited to introduce the latest approaches by the journals of the American Chemical Society, (Chem. Rev., 2010, 110, 4978-5022; Acc. Chem. Res., 2012, 45 (4), 504–513.) and the Royal Society of Chemistry, (Chem. Soc. Rev., 2010, 39, 769-782; 2011, 40, 5457-5471.).
